Scholarship Recipients Named

The Walking Horse Trainer’s Association, together with funding by the Glenn C. Dowell, Jr. family
presented six wonderful recipients with the honor of scholarships at this year’s Celebration.
Deserving recipient’s receiving scholarships were: Shelby Nicole Beam, Hannah Adele Barnes, James Logan Hankins, Branson Douglas Popp,
Abigail Lane Hunt and Jaron Louis Dotson.
Shelby Nicole Beam is the 18 year old daughter of Steve and Sherrie Beam of Arab, Alabama. Her dad is the 2013 Alabama Walking Horse Trainer of the Year and both grandfathers
are riders of World Grand Champion Racking Horses. Shelby is currently attending Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky.
Hannah Adele Barnes is the daughter of Brian and Julie Barnes from Sabina, Ohio. She has been around horses her entire life and attended her first Celebration when she was only a month old.
She currently attends the University of Kentucky where she is majoring in Animal Science and has plans to become a Veterinarian.
James Logan Hankins is the son of trainers Jamie and Jennifer Hankins of Paris, Kentucky. Logan is an accomplished rider and has been a regular at horse shows his entire life. He attends Morehead
State Univeristy and has a goal of becoming a bio-medical engineer.
Branson Douglas Popp is the son of Steven Popp and Sheila and Trainer Winky Groover and grandson of Raymond and Diana Popp. He is currently studying at Auburn University where he plans
to major in electrical engineering.
Abigail Lane Hunt is the daughter of Julie Bobo Tucker and the granddaughter of Bill and Connie Bobo. She has been around Tennessee Walking Horses all of her life. She will be attending Middle Tennessee State University in the fall where
she plans on majoring in Mass Communication.
Jaron Louis Dotson is the son of Trainer Jesse and Sharon Dotson. Jaron began showing at the age of six. His plans are to attend Columbia State Community College in Franklin, Tennessee and become a Physical Therapist.
