Obituary- Paul Hughes

Walking horse owner, breeder and avid supporter Paul Hughes, passed away January 20th, 2018 following a long battle with COPD. He was 92.
A life-long resident of California, Hughes was born June 13, 1925. He opened his first barn, Carousel Farms, around 1950. In 1973, Hughes opened Flo’s Airport Café at the Ontario Airport. He later opened a second one in Chino.
In 1980, Hughes opened Golden West Farm. He owned multiple notable horses over the years, including Coin’s Double Pride, Pride’s Merry Gold, Pusher’s Big Score, Coin’s Triple Play, Pride’s Golden Gait, Pride’s Good As Gold, Coin’s High Noon, and Magic’s Go Girl.
He was married to Donna Hughes. The two enjoyed time with her sons, Scott and Shawn Benham and grandsons Shad Hughes, Mac & Luke Benham. The Scoop sends our heartfelt thoughts to the Hughes Family.
