Judy Stamey Jones, age 65, passed away peacefully at her home on June 14, 2015.

She was born in Haywood County and was the daughter of the late Wayne and Jane Gregory Stamey. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Robert Holcombe.

Judy was owner of Judy Jones Trucking in Fletcher, North Carolina and The Loralei Inn in Canton, North Carolina. Judy served on the Board of Directors of the Racking Horse Breeders Association for more than 30 years and was active as an owner and rider of show horses. Judy received many accolades for her dedication to the transportation and equine industries.

She is survived by her daughter, Lora Holcombe; beloved granddaughter, Annie Holcombe; nephew, Austin Gregory; sister, Jan Stamey Wiggins and her husband, Robbie; companion, Jeff Phillips; niece, Katie Thomas and her husband, Robert; special cousin, Jimmy Gregory and his wife, Joyce; grandnephew, Liam Thomas; grandniece, Kiptyn Thomas; and numerous extended family and dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Susan Pillsbury officiating. Burial will follow at Long’s Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from6:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
