Obituary Dr. Michael Harold Piet

3a2c731f-d072-4a5e-8e99-15b75917c35bDr. M.H. “Michael” Piet, of Mint Hill, NC, passed away at home on Sunday, the 6th of November 2016, due to an extended illness with his loving family by his side. He was 57 years old.

Born March 10, 1959, in Greenville, NC, Michael was a son of Jim Piet and the late Diane Piet. He received his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and his Doctorate of Dental Science from Georgetown University. In 1993, Michael married Anne Piet of Stanley, NC. He owned and directed Plantation Market Dental Group of Matthews, NC for over 20 years. Michael thoroughly enjoyed his family and friends, golf, his Tennessee Walking Horses, and was an avid Carolina Panther fan. In addition to his mother, Michael was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Jim Harrill.

Michael is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Anne Piet; his loving Schnauzer, Stella; father, Jim Piet of Charleston, SC; brother, Steve Piet and wife, Robin, of Idaho Falls, ID; mother-in-law, Pat Harrill of Stanley, NC; niece, Valerie Piet of Missoula, MT; nephews, Alex Piet of Princeton, NJ and Alex Helton of Stanley, NC; goddaughters, Charlotte Grace and Caroline Elyse of Christina, TN; sister-in-law,Myra Helton and husband, Scott, of Stanley, NC; and numerous friends and extended family.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from eleven o’clock in the morning until one o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 11th of November 2016, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. A funeral service will immediately follow at one o’clock in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Michael Robinson will officiate. Pallbearers are Chris Gibson, Brandon Givens, Kim Long, Aaron Royster, Ronnie Royster, and Donnie Sain. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
