Obituary – Cecil M. Hinkle, Jr

UNION, WV — Cecil M. Hinkle, Jr., 80, of Union, WV passed away Saturday morning at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, Va. following an extended illness. He was born at Sinks Grove, WV, December 30, 1934, a son of the late Cecil M. and Mildred Cook Hinkle.
Junior was a self employed farmer with a special interest in raising, training, and showing Tennessee Walking Horses. He was president of the West Virginia Horseman’s Association, a lifetime member of the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders and Exhibitors Association, and was the owner of 5 World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horses. He was a veteran of the US Army; having been stationed in Bamburg, Germany, a 1953 graduate of Union High School, and a member of the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church at Sinks Grove.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy C. McCormick. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Ann Campbell Hinkle of Union; 3 daughters, Ann Jameson and husband, Kent of Union, their children, Tyler and Caroline Jameson; Mary Jane Rickman and Husband, Tom of Union, and children, Mary Beth Hinkle and her husband, Bryan, Rebecca McCormick and Maggie Beasley; Betsy Johnson and her husband, Kevin of Pickaway and son, Campbell Johnson; and one great granddaughter, Ava Beth Hinkle. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the Groves Funeral Home Chapel in Union, WV with Rev. Frank Naglic officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery at Union, WV. Friends may call Monday, December 14, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Military Graveside Rites will be provided by the West Virginia Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Rick Bennett, Jim Bennett, Michael McCormick, Robert Higginbotham, Andy Higginbotham and Robert Wylie.
