picOctober 19, 1942. — August 7, 2015 Bernie Duncan, a Tennessee born gentleman and cowboy who touched the lives of so many friends and family, both two and four-legged, died Augustt 7th, 2015 at his home in Oviedo. He was 72. Shortly after joining the United States Army, where he proudly served from 1960-1965, he was stationed in Paris France where he met and married the love of his life, Linda, whom anchored his life and gave him the freedom to live it.
Bernie soon began a family, started and ran Dulando Screen and Awning a successful construction company, and immersed himself into the community where he was respected and by many.
The term horse whisperer came and later in life when Bernie discovered passion and love for horses, during which time he dove in head first, as always, and began breeding, raising, training, showing and riding his favorite four legged friends. A three stall barn shortly turned into eight and his days were spent doing what he loved. May his wisdom and passion live on in the horse community and his legacy never be forgotten, as this cowboy’s soul is a gentle and infectious as his smile.
He is survived by his children, David Duncan, Jerry Duncan, and Tisa Stafford, who made him immensely proud. His big sisters Joy Park, Nancy Dooly and little brother Doug Duncan, and a herd of grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved to the moon and back. His optimism and zest for life will forever remain within our hearts as a daily reminder to smile big and whistle loudly.
