Obituary – Becky Walker Coleman

Services for Becky Walker Coleman of Money, Mississippi, will be held Thursday, October 30,2014 at 2:00 PM at West President Church of Christ in Greenwood. Visitation will be at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home prior to the funeral from 12:00 noon til 1:45 PM on the day of the funeral. Mrs. Coleman, age 66 died after a 6 year fight with ovarian cancer at her home near Money on Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Officiating at the funeral will be Alex Bayes of Rogersville, Alabama, and Mark Shiers of Greenwood.

She was born November 5, 1947, in Corinth, Mississippi, to the late Leroy and Ruth Walker, longtime residents of Corinth, and after retirement, Greenwood. Becky was a 1965 graduate of Corinth High School where she was selected Miss Corinth High School. She graduated in 1969 from The University of Mississippi, where she was a member and president of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She had been a member of West President Church of Christ since moving to Greenwood with her husband and three sons in 1978. Her main passions in life were first, God and the Church, where she was very active in teaching the gospel to souls in Africa thru World Bible School, working closely with native missionaries, mostly in Nigeria. She loved her family deeply, especially her ten grandchildren. She enjoyed raising and showing Tennessee Walking horses, having won numerous World and World Grand Championships over the past 30 years at The Tennessee Walking Hose National Celebration in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Mrs. Coleman owned and operated Olde World Antiques for 12 years, importing French and European antiques to her shop in Greenwood. Her smile and genuine personality endeared her to friends across the country.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Michael Coleman and their three sons: Wallace Coleman of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, his wife Cristal and their three children, Grace, Christopher, and Caroline; son Dr. Lee Coleman of Greenwood, his wife Amy and their 6 children, Madeleine, Walker, Claire, Merrick, Victoria, and Maya; son John Coleman of Greenwood, his wife Jennefer and their son Charlie. She is also survived by her beloved mother in law, Mrs. George Coleman (Sarah) of Corinth.

After visitation at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home and her funeral at the West President Church of Christ, burial will be at the cemetery located on the family farm near Money.
