Heart
Failure, who was lovingly owned by the Rick Compton
family of Tazewell, Va., was humanely put to rest on
March 27 due to complications from colic.
Due
to the pain Heart Failure was experiencing, Rick’s
son, Kenny Compton, said the horse wasn’t able to
make the two-hour drive to the veterinary hospital.
The family then decided to lay the horse to
rest.
Kenny
trained and could often be seen riding the mount along
with his sister, Shannon. The sorrel gelding most
recently won the Amateur Owned and Trained Specialty
division at the Smoky Mountain Classic last year and
also won the 15.2 Amateur Specialty Championship at
the Virginia Celebration Atlantic Regional Futurity in
2005.
Kenny said there was hardly a show where Heart
Failure didn’t place in the top three.
The
Scoop sends its condolences to the Comptons.
