1995 WGC Pride's Sundance Star

The well-known Pride’s Sundance Star was humanely laid to rest on Sept. 16 after suffering from colic.

Carolyn Rutner of Northport, Ala. owned this beloved black stallion, who was 17-years-old at the time of his death. Rutner says Pride’s Sundance Star was taken to Mississippi State University Animal Hospital to be treated for colic, but veterinarians felt an operation would not be successful.

Pride’s Sundance Star earned many titles throughout his career including wins at the National Trainers’ Show, the Mississippi State Charity Show, the Columbia Spring Jubilee, the International Grand Championship, the Spring Fun Show, the Woodbury Lions Club Show, the Alabama Ladies Auxiliary Show and the Shelby County Heart of Dixie Charity Show. This stallion’s most prestigious title came when he won the 1995 National Celebration World Grand Championship, and he also has several World Championship titles under his belt.

The Scoop sends its condolences to Carolyn Rutner and those who loved this special horse.
