Jimmy Bowlin Dilday, age 84 of Dresden, Tennessee died on Saturday, June 30, 2018 in Dresden. The Celebration of Life service was held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 5th at Dresden First Baptist Church with burial that followed in Sunset Cemetery.

Jimmy Bowlin Dilday was born on July 8, 1933 to the late Hubert and Annie Lynn Bowlin Dilday in Dresden. He graduated from Dresden High School in 1952 and from John A. Gupton Mortuary College. He was a United States Army Veteran and a long-time supporter of the Tennessee Walking Horse Industry. .

As owner and operator of Bowlin Funeral Home, Jimmy was a 60-year member of the Tennessee Funeral Directors Association and served as board president for one term. He was a long-time member of Dresden First Baptist Church. Jimmy was recently honored as a 60-year member of the Dresden Rotary Club and was a long-term member of the American Legion Post 94 and a charter member of the Dresden Elks Lodge.

Married for 61 years, Jimmy is survived by his wife; Edith Crawford Dilday, his son; David (Christy) Dilday of Dresden; his daughter; Marianne (Eric) Horne of Crystal Lake, IL, his granddaughter; Paige (Dillon) Brann, his 2 great grandsons; Dawson and Dane Brann all of Gallatin, TN, his 2 step granddaughters; Colleen Horne and Megan (Shawn) Andrews of Crystal Lake, IL; special niece, Jhonna (Roger) Ghrigsby of Hendersonville, TN and nephew, Tommy (Mari) Dilday of Dresden. He was preceded in death by his brothers; Charles and Joe Hoyt Dilday, and his sister; Lucy Truitt.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Dresden First Baptist Church Building Fund or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The Scoop sends our warmest condolences to the Dilday Family.
