*Editor’s Note: This poem was written by Natasha
Douglas, an equine photographer, who took photos
during the Stake class at the Tennessee State
Championships of I’m Johnny Cash, who passed away at
this show. Douglas says this is one of her favorite
horses, and she would like to donate a plaque with
this poem on it as well as a photo collage to his
owners.
On August 11, 2007, the Angels in heaven were
getting their horses ready for an exciting event
A horse show like no other was about to commence
Angels came from far and near to see the Walking
Horses
step over the clouds
But God said one of the great ones was not in his
barn
So, he sent his grooms to earth to capture one of
the best...
He said unto his grooms, "You know the one and bring
him fast"
So the angels came to earth to harness I'm Johnny
Cash
He gave his heart for all who loved him, and he left
doing what he loved
Now, it was time for him to “walk on” in the heavens
above
The crowd cheered as he made his final
exit on earth and the angels cheered as the grooms
rushed him in the big oval in the sky
As he passed the grandstands, God said, "Welcome
Home, I’m Johnny Cash, spread your wings and fly!"

My prayers go out to the family, and I would like to
dedicate this poem to the Holbrooks, the Conleys and
all who loved this wonderful horse.
