SHELBYVILLE, Tenn.-The
lights are on, marking the renewal of a growing
tradition in Shelbyville. “A Celebration Christmas”
has begun and will run through the end of the year.
“The holiday light show
is our gift to the community for what they do for us
all year,” said Celebration CEO Ron Thomas. “They
work so hard to help us make The Celebration such a
terrific event, it seems right for us to add to
their holiday season.”
Members of the
Celebration’s grounds staff began work by putting up
the set pieces and strings of lights just after
Halloween, and work continues right up until the
final day to make sure every bulb works.
“It’s a big job, but
our guys really look forward to making it look
great,” remarked Celebration Grounds Superintendent
Wade Adams. “They take a lot of pride in putting
together something that the community enjoys so
much.”
The display has grown
over the years. The 2007 edition of “A Celebration
Christmas” features 83 different set pieces and over
115,000 lights.
“We’ve been doing this
for thirteen years,” reported Thomas. “We get a lot
of comments from people all over middle Tennessee
who enjoy the display every year.”
The displays can be
seen nightly along Celebration Drive from Madison
Street (US 41A) all the way up to the Calsonic
Arena.
