18-026thelma louise davenport $75Thelma Louise, the talented four year old mare, owned and shown by Dorothy Davenport of Clarksville, TN, and loved by Dorothy Davenport, Peter Huff, Scarlett Davenport, Winky and Sheila Groover and all the crew and fans of Groover Stables, died on August 16, 2015, from complications of colic.
Thelma Louise was raised by Donald Hendricks and started by Scotty Brooks Stables. She was sold to Jimmy and Carol Lackey and was trained by Allan Callaway Stables her three year old year where she was Reserve World Champion in 2014 with John Allan Callaway.
Ms. Dorothy Davenport was looking for an exceptional horse when she purchased Thelma Louise this spring. Her first show driving in fine harness was at Columbia where she competed against the trainers and won first place. She showed again, this time riding her, at Liberty Lions Club winning first place in the class. The rain did not bother Thelma Louise and Dorothy. The next time Dorothy drove Thelma Louise was at Woodbury. This team showed in their last competition together at Pulaski and took home the reserve ribbon.
Thelma Louise will be missed by Dorothy, Peter, Scarlett and her family at Groover Stables and numerous fans.
