Donna Anderson McLaughlin, 65, of Florence, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016.
Mrs. McLaughlin was born in Florence, SC, a daughter of the late Willard Braxton Anderson and Virginia Langston Anderson. She was a longtime member of Effingham Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher, a Bible School Director and a President of Women of the Church. She was a National Champion 4-H Seamstress, founder and president of Cherry Blossom Garden Club, the SC Walking Horse Mother of the year and a member of the North Carolina and South Carolina Ladies Auxiliary. She was on the Board of Pee Dee Speech and Hearing and a member of the Florence County GOP Executive Committee. As a recipient of a trial device, Donna testified before the FDA to obtain approval for the Auditory Brainstem Implant Device and was National Spokesperson for the National Ear Foundation. Mrs. McLaughlin was a graduate of Timmonsville High School and attended Winthrop College.
“GaGa” as she was affectionately known is survived by her stepmother, Linda Anderson; her children, Stephanie McLaughlin (Kevin) Rawlinson, Celia McLaughlin (Brian) Urquhart and Samuel Rowland McLaughlin, Jr.; grandchildren, Mary Catherine Rawlinson, Ella Rawlinson, Wills Urquhart, Abi Urquhart and Row McLaughlin; brother-in-law and sister in-law, Larry and Carol McLaughlin; sister, Linda Strickland; best friends, Janet Miller, Myra Epps, and Terri Brooks and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Rowland McLaughlin, Sr.
