FUTURITY YEARLINGS DOMINATE TOP SELLERS

The 2009 Futurity yearlings were very impressive at the auction block.  This year at Sand Creek Sale a new yellow TWHBEA Futurity hip tag was put in place to let buyers know which colts and fillies were nominated.  This proved to be very productive and exciting!  Of the top ten yearlings sold during the 2009 Yearling Festival, three out of the top four were Futurity nominated.  Their average sales price was $11,700 versus an average sales price of $11,000.  The fact that these yearlings were Futurity nominated added on average an additional $700 in their sellers’ pockets compared to yearlings that were not nominated.  This speaks volumes regarding the value of nominating your mare and foal.

With the implementation of the true Futurity, these values will do nothing but increase. To further take advantage of the nomination process, breeders are encouraged to consider nominating their weanlings for a one-time $150 fee.
